This photo is from a previously unpublished roll of film documenting one night at a ramp party in San Francisco, back in 2001.

In contests, people have ‘runs’, routines are perfected, time is called. There are pads and helmets, prominent sponsor logos. It’s all a bit stiff and serious.
But a heated ramp session with spontaneity and yelling and a keg of beer, on a ramp with a pentagram spray-painted on it, in a warehouse at midnight in a sketchy neighbourhood in a remote corner of San Francisco..? Helter skelter.
